Overview

Bfarm-Tech is dedicated to becoming a viable digital mechanization company in Ethiopia. It is registered as a sole proprietorship business on June 13, 2019, and officially launched in January 2020. By building a successful digital mechanization platform, Bfarm-Tech aims to play an immense role in replacing the Ethiopian traditional farming system by making agricultural mechanization services available, accessible, and affordable to smallholder farmers in Ethiopia. Therefore, we can improve their lives through technology that helps enhance productivity, reduce harvest loss, and improve farmers’ efficiency by saving their time and energy.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Bfarm-Tech is dedicated to becoming a viable digital mechanization company in Ethiopia.  Our digital platform is the first of its kind in Ethiopia to provide end-to-end solutions for the existing problems in agricultural mechanization services. Bfarm-Tech uses an ‘Internet-of-Things’ (IoT) web-based mobile app and call center to connect smallholder farmers to mechanization service providers and bridge the gap between traditional farming and more technologically advanced approaches. Bfarm-Tech digital platform offers an easily installed and user-friendly mobile app and call center accessible by machinery owners and farmers. Farmers can request mechanization services simply by calling our call center or using our mobile App. Once booking occurs, our platform will connect that request to the nearest available tractor or Thresher.

Using our Machinery owner App allows service providers for the on-the-ground management to more accurately monitor the movement of their equipment, service request management, work progress, fleet management, operator performance, and activity tracking to increase their profitability.

By digitalizing our farming system, we plan to deliver these solutions faster, cheaper, and more efficiently to smallholder farmers in ways that could not have been done before. We will play an immense role in making rental mechanization services available, accessible and affordable to enhance productivity improve efficiency and reduce post-harvest loss, save farmers’ time and energy.

Mechanization service providers can buy our GPS to attach to their tractors or the threshers to track movements and accept booking requests. Our digital application will work after tractors are installed with a hardware monitoring device that is fitted with GPS, SIM card & the necessary software. The device will then transfer data to Bfarmtech’s mobile application, where it is displayed in a user-friendly format.  Our machinery Owner App will include tools such as service request management, tractor and fleet management, operator performance, and activity tracking to increase their profitability, Farmers can request mechanization services simply by calling our call center or using our mobile App. By running a shared economy model, Bfarm-Tech technology will allow smallholder farmers to access Mechanization services including tractors/harvesters on demand.

Our digital platform will also have a harvesting time prediction system so that machinery will be deployed based on the harvesting period in different regions. The system algorithm will determine the duration, logistics, and manpower required to accomplish a task in one region and deploy it to other places.

In the near future we plan to include services on,

  • Harvesting time predictions
  • Machinery performance data
  • Machine operator training

Bfarm-Tech mechanization services reduce farming time and enable farmers to plow, harvest, and store their farm produce in optimal periods of each season thereby increasing productivity and production volume. By minimizing the time taken to plowing and threshing; the service will have an impact to enhance the timely supply of grain in the national and international markets. Besides, we are also providing the service at a lower price than other competitors in the province.

Our businesses also have a direct impact on labor productivity; farm income; environment and the quality of life of small-scale farmers in Moretena Jiru province. Our business have an Impact to change in cropping patterns, improvement of food security, employment as well as labor displacement, and a rise in income for smallholder farmers and service providers.

Our company delivers its social responsibilities by providing Mechanized Plowing and threshing services and gives priority to women headed and disabilities.
